Damage to ecosystems that once conferred protection from drought, flood, storm and landslide has become widespread. Early climate change is subjecting increasingly undefended communities to more extreme conditions. As aquifers are dewatered and environmental security deteriorates, more and people are finding it hard to stay where they are. They are at risk of becoming EDPs. ProAct's Associate, Dr Julian Caldecott (www.juliancaldecott.com) reports on experiences to show that it's possible to roll back the clock, by restoring ecosystems to boost the security of livelihoods and lifestyles in an increasingly dangerous world.
