Clara Ariza Clara a Colombian biologist specialized in dryland ecology, is Programme Officer with ProAct. For over ten years, Clara has worked evaluating the effects of desertification and climate change on the biodiversity of tropical and Mediterranean ecosystems. She has participated in various research projects and expeditions in South America, the Middle East and Madagascar and is currently finalizing her PhD degree at the University of Tübingen, Germany. Clara enjoys desert landscapes and family life. | Nathalie Chambeyron Nathalie is French and British, joined ProAct as an intern in 2009, and is currently Programme Officer. Nathalie has an MSc in Development Studies, focusing on human displacement and post-conflict transitions, and past experience working for international organisations in the area. | Beatrice Hamblin Beatrice, ProAct’s Office Manager, has a degree in business & administration and many years experience working in multicultural environments. Béatrice lived and worked in Europe, Asia and North America before settling in Switzerland with her husband and daughter. The family particularly enjoys living by the Lake Leman, going for a dip year round. | Marleen Masclee Marleen has joined ProAct as Programme Manager in Sudan. Since 2006, Marleen has been working with several NGOs and diplomatic missions in, or with a focus on, Sudan. The combination of humanitarian aid provision and foreign affairs diplomacy have contributed to obtaining a good understanding of the Sudan context, with special attention on Darfur. Marleen is also supporting her own project in Mali, West Africa, regarding the construction and sustaining of a primary school in the south of the country. This village has been her home for several months while carrying out a Master research in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology. All in all, the African continent has gained a special place in her heart. | Nina Saalismaa Nina is a Programme Officer with ProAct. Nina's background is in environmental sciences but she has also worked in human rights and child protection with international organisations and NGOs. Nina speaks six languages and prior to moving to Switzerland she lived and worked in Central America, Kosovo and Lesotho. | David Stone David is Director of ProAct Network. A zoologist by training, David has worked for over 20 years in the fields of biodiversity conservation and environmental management particularly in humanitarian and disaster relief operations, with emphasis on community engagement and development. David has worked with refugees and other people displaced by conflict or disasters in more than 40 countries. David is also an accomplished author and editor, and is an avid organic gardener! | Caroline Wood Caroline is ProAct's Webmaster. With a degree in geography, Caroline has always enjoyed working for companies or international institutions interested in the environment. Returning to work after a break dedicated to raising her four young children, Caroline is happy to be (part-time) in the office to focus on more grown up matters. | Grant Wroe-Street Grant comes from a background of environmental law and impact assessment. Prior to joining ProAct Network Grant worked with the United Nations in the areas of environmental assessment and management in post-conflict countries. His current work retains this focus and the environmental challenges faced and posed by people displaced as a result of conflict or disaster. Since moving to Switzerland he has started skiing and has the ambition to fall down with less frequency and more grace. |
